Mehdi was a brave 17-year-old boy who was shot by Islamic Regime forces in the middle of the street and was left to bleed to death. Video footage has shown Regime forces putting his body in the back of a truck and covering him with an advertising banner. When his family was on their way to their ancestral village for his funeral, they received a threatening phone call where they were told to, “not go there,” and that they [the Regime’s forces] had “buried him ourselves,” and that the family should “go back to Karaj.”
To further add to their suffering, on the occasion of the 40th day of Mehdi’s death (commemorated traditionally by Iranians and referred to as “chehleh” in Persian), Islamic Republic forces put his family under house arrest to prevent them from visiting his grave site.
