Omid Naroei

16-year-old Omid Naroei was shot and killed on October 28, 2022 during the massacre that became known as the “Bloody Friday of Zahedan.” Omid’s father, Gholam Naroei, shared the following account of his son’s killing with BBC Farsi:

Omid had gone to the bakery to buy bread and on his way back he encountered the Friday prayer crowd. Omid was watching the crowd when he was shot three times in the head. The people in the crowd carried Omid’s body to the Makki Mosque and then to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive. Omid had just taken photos for his ID card. The photos were still in his pocket when he was killed.
